Since several years, the Missionary Congregation of the SVD (Society of the Divine Word) in India sends their newly ordained priests every year for ten days’ monastic experience at Kappadu. This year they were 13. They arrived on the 27th of June and stayed on with us till the 6th of July. In between they paid a short visit to Kurisumala, which is only some 40 kilometres from Kappadu. After their ordination, they undergo nearly a month’s practical preparation before they are assigned to various missions in India or abroad. Their stay at Kappadu is part of that preparation. Abbot John spent two hours with them every day, sharing some Biblical reflections with them and answering their questions. They adjusted themselves well to the life at Kappadu.
