On February 19 Fr. Varghese Padinjarel, the Novice Master and the four novices went to our daughter house, St. John’s monastery, Karivedakam. They were there till February 28th, helping the community to harvest their pepper. This is the only monastery where we have a good number of pepper plants. Harvesting pepper is done once a year and it has to be completed in a short period of time. This explains why members of other communities have to go and help the Karivedakam community every year during the pepper harvesting season. On their way back they also spent a couple of days with the community of St. Basil’s monastery, Mandapam.
