It was in 1987 that we celebrated the first Christmas at Kappadu. This year’s was the 29th Christmas celebration. We continue to celebrate Christmas more or less the way we celebrated the first Christmas here. The brethren from the daughter houses arrived on the 24th. They all joined hands with the novices to make the crib. Bro. Albin, one of our novices, was the main engineer and architect! We had the midnight Mass which was attended by many of our neighbours. Abbot John, the main celebrant, preached a short homily on the gospel text (Lk. 2:1-20). After the Holy Mass refreshments were served in the refectory, which was followed by distribution of Christmas gifts. After a few hours’ rest we had the Morning Prayer at 7:20 a.m. The rest of the day went as usual.
